Hokies walked a thin line to 10-win season in 2016

Fuente honors team's resiliency

CHARLOTTE, NC. –    The ACC football kickoff in Charlotte this week gave everyone a chance to evaluate last season with the benefit of some time and perspective.  For Virginia Tech, coach Justin Fuente's 10-4 opening season was successful while including plenty of ups and downs. Coach Fuente said in retrospect it's pretty easy to understand the rollercoaster of results.

"Our margin for error wasn't great. It didn't matter who we were playing. We weren't overly talented,or so talented that we could not play well and have a chance to win.. regardless of the opponent.  It just didn't matter. But second of all, I thought we were incredibly resilient and remarkably tough-minded and we had the ability to bounce back win in bad situations," Fuente said

The Hokies 'never-say-die' mentality equated to come-from-behind wins over Notre Dame and Arkansas and they broke a fourth-quarter tie to win at Pitt.
