Bruins Stun Knights, Fleming Girls Advance

Roanoke-(WSLS-10 Sports)- SW Virginia Conference basketball tournaments reached the semifinal round Wednesday night. Among the winners, the Patrick Henry boys defeated Halifax 44-41 to advance to the finals vs Albemarle.  In 4A Conference 24, William Fleming handled Bassett 65-49 and Byrd bounced Pulaski 53-44. 3A Conference 31 saw Alleghany outlast Lord Botetourt 61-55 and Northside nixes Rockbridge Co 59-39. In Conference 32, Blacksburg stung Cave Spring 62-53 and Hidden Valley blasted Patrick Co 61-29.  In 2A West Conference 37, Dan River advances with a 72-55 win over Appomattox. Conference 38 action saw Glenvar move on 65-51 over James River and Martinsville handled Giles 63-54.

In girls action, Carroll Co and William Fleming will meet again after both advanced in Conference 24. Carroll defeated Pulaski Co 66-40. Fleming pulled away from William Byrd 75-48. In 3A Conference 32, Hidden Valley bounced Blacksburg behind 32 from Drew Freeland. They will face Abingdon in the finals.  In @A Conference 37, Chatham defeats Appomattox 55-43 and Gretna moves on 74-36. In Conference 45, Narrows over Covington 64-55. Parry McCluer defeats Radford 45-26. In Conference 46, Fort Chiswell defeats Rural Retreat 53-44. George Wythe clubs Chilhowie 67-37.
