Staunton River football coach Chuck Poston resigns

Overall record was 57-39 with Staunton River

BEDFORD, Va. – After 8 seasons leading the Staunton River High School football program, Chuck Poston announced his resignation on Friday.

Poston released this statement:

“It is with great pride and humility that I humbly submit my resignation as the head football coach at Staunton River High School. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the head coach at SRHS and I wish the program continued success in the future. I look forward to seeing the program continue to grow and prosper in the coming years and I plan on continuing to teach English at SRHS for the rest of my career. Thank you and God Bless.”

Poston’s coaching career began in West Virginia and has spanned 24 years.

He spent the last 16 years with the Golden Eagles and took over head coaching duties in 2010.

During the past eight seasons, he’s compiled the most winning seasons, most playoff appearances, most playoff wins and most overall wins in the history of the school.

The Golden Eagles finished as state runners-up and 13-2 under his direction in 2016, while going 13-1 and finishing as state finalists this past season.

In 2016 Poston was named Conference 31 Coach of the Year and Blue Ridge District Coach of the Year in 2017.

His overall record as head coach at Staunton River is 57-39.
