Jerrod Evans signed by Philadelphia Eagles as undrafted free agent

Evans would be the fourth quarterback on the roster

ROANOKE, Va. – After going undrafted this past weekend, former Virginia Tech quarterback Jerod Evans now knows where his NFL dream will begin.

On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles signed the former Hokie as an undrafted free agent, according to reports out of Philadelphia.

Ten quarterbacks were taken in the 2017 NFL Draft: Mitchell Trubisky, Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, DeShone Kizer, Davis Webb, C.J. Beathard, Joshua Dobbs, Nathan Peterman, Brad Kaaya and Chad Kelly.

Evans would be the fourth quarterback on the Eagles roster.

Carson Wentz, Nick Foles and Matt McGloin would presumably be ahead of Evans on the depth chart.

Although Evans wasn't drafted, four other Hokies were selected during draft weekend.

In the sixth round, safety Chuck Clark went to the Baltimore Ravens, tight end Bucky Hodges went to the Minnesota Vikings, and fullback Sam Rogers went to the Los Angeles Rams.

In the seventh round, wide receiver Isaiah Ford went to the Miami Dolphins.
