Ferrum College Forum focuses on Internet Privacy (Image 1)

(WSLS 10) - Ferrum College held it's annual Forum on Critical Thinking, Innovation & Leadership. This year's focus is "Internet Privacy, Civil Liberties, National Security, Law, and Economics: In Search of a Coherent Policy Path Forward".

According to the Bureau of Justice, approximately 16.6 million U.S. residents age 16 or older, were victims of one or more incidents of identity theft in 2012. Among identity theft victims,existing bank (37%) or credit card accounts (40%) were the most common types of misused information.

Internet privacy is a growing concern, Ferrum College gathered experts in the field to discuss the issue. The event occurs Wed., March 19, 2014 at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center in Roanoke. The Forum sessions include a series of presentations from leading experts and panel discussion. Guest include Steven G. Bradbury, former head of the Office of Legal Counsel in the Department of Justice during the George W. Bush administration; Priscilla M. Regan, Chair, Public and International Affairs, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, George Mason University; and Amie Stepanovich, Senior Policy Counsel at Access, an international human rights organization that defends and extends the digital rights of users at risk around the world.
