Contractor in Va. pleads guilty to bribery

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A former Chesapeake defense contractor has pleaded guilty in a bribery scheme.

Forty-year-old Adam C. White entered the plea Friday in federal court in Norfolk to one count of conspiracy to bribe public officials.

Federal prosecutors say White and his business partners paid cash bribes to officials from the Navy's Military Sealift Command in exchange for contracts on various telecommunications projects.

Four others have pleaded guilty in the scheme.

White faces up to five years in prison. Sentencing has been set for July 11.
