Terriers Still Competing at Key Positions

By John "Appy" Appicello - Sports Director

Vinton (WSLS)  The WSLS-10 High School football camp tour rolls to William Byrd high school.

The Terriers are busy replacing a star-studded roster which took them to a winning season and a playoff victory before falling in the VHSL Group 3A round of 32, or second round. The man to do it is veteran Coach Jeff Highfill.  He's in his 34th season at the home of the Terriers.

Gone is quarterback Zac Hill, but Coach Highfill has a pair of skilled quarterbacks dueling for the job.   And he's got a similar situation at tailback, with some young talent--battling for the positions.

They were a power football team behind Hill and company..but Coach Highfill says the performance of his skill players in the next couple of weeks..will go a long way to deciding what the game plan will revolve around..in 2014.  He has always been a coach that has tailored his attack to the talent at hand, and this year will be no different.  The Terriers open at Cave Spring on August 29th.
