LYNCHBURG (WSLS) - A Lynchburg family is looking for answers after their daughter was murdered in 2009.

Cassandra Morton was 23-years-old when her body was found on Candlers Mountain.

"The only thing we are seeking is closure, but until this happened, for the last three or four years we haven't heard anything from police," Cassandra's father Rawleigh Taylor Myers said.

Rawleigh Taylor Myers said there's been no suspects in his daughter's case. Myers said when he found out abduction suspect Jesse Matthew had a connection to Liberty University, he wondered if he could have been involved in his daughter's murder.

Matthew is charged on abduction with intent to defile UVa student Hannah Graham.

Representatives from Liberty University confirmed Matthew was a student from 2000-2002. The Lynchburg Deputy Commonwealth confirmed there was a sexual assault allegation made about Matthew in October of 2002. However, the victim decided not to pursue with charges.

Cassandra Morton's body was found on mountain located on Liberty University's campus.

The Campbell County Sheriff's Office says they are looking into a possible connection. However, Myers says police have not contacted him at all this week.

Virginia State Police said there is a forensic link to Matthew with Morgan Harrington's case.

"It's a possibility if all the evidence points to the Harrington's case, we might be able to seek our justice right here in Campbell County," Myers said.
