BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - Extra time and money spent on one housing project in Blacksburg is paying off for residents during these frigid temperatures.

The Grissom Lane complex was built by Community Housing Partners and the town of Blacksburg with a net-zero energy design.

That means these homes have top of the line insulation from extreme cold, and they prevent utility bills from skyrocketing.  For the residents who live in these units, reliable shelter from the elements is not just a matter of comfort, but a matter of staying healthy.

The Grissom Lane homes opened in November, and are designed to help residents age in place.
