BLACKSBURG (WSLS10)- Students and community members came together in Blacksburg to fight the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
People played music and speakers from different organizations spoke at the rally to raise awareness about the dangers of the pipeline.
They claim there won't be as many jobs, and there will be environmental damage from the construction of the pipeline.
People who attended say they want others to be educated about the pipeline. Kirk Bowers with the Sierra Club says it is important to make the public aware.
"We hope that they will learn how to submit comments learn about the issues involved and become more active in the issues itself and resisting the Mountain Valley Pipeline," Butler said.
This is was the first rally held in Blacksburg near Virginia Tech's campus.
Organizers say they plan to have more rallies in the future.
