As part of WSLS 10 Today’s morning team, Patrick McKee brings a unique set of skills to the anchor desk.
Formerly part of the WSLS 10 Storm Team, Patrick spent most of his career as a meteorologist before making the move to news in November 2014.
Patrick joined the WSLS 10 News team in March of 2006. Before moving to Virginia, he spent four years covering a lot of severe weather while working at KSWO-TV in Lawton, Oklahoma. Patrick is originally from central North Carolina.
Patrick’s interest in weather began as Hurricane Hugo moved over his hometown in 1989. He attended Elon University with Jeff Haniewich earning a degree in Broadcast Communications with minors in Math and Computer Science in 1999. He then attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville with Jeff Haniewich. He earned his post-baccalaureate degree in atmospheric science in 2001.
In his spare time, you’ll see Patrick eating a lot and occasionally cooking. Of course, being from North Carolina, Patrick is a huge Carolina Tarheel fan.
Watch Patrick and the rest of the WSLS 10 Today crew every weekday morning from 5-7 a.m.
