Liane Morejon

Reporter

Liane Morejon is an Emmy-winning reporter who joined the Local 10 News family in January 2010.

During her time with Local 10, Liane has covered some of the biggest stories in South Florida over a wide range of topics -- whether it's traveling across the country to cover stories making national headlines, to catching up with a group of migrants desperate to make it to American shores, to covering crime and public corruption right here in South Florida.

Before becoming an on-air reporter, Liane was a Local 10 intern. Later, she became a part of Local 10's team of producers. She began as an associate producer for Local 10 News Mornings and was later promoted to head producer of the 5 a.m. hour.

In 2013, Liane transitioned into working on the air, starting as a Local 10 traffic anchor before moving on to full-time reporting.

She can currently be seen reporting weekdays at noon, 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. or on Sundays at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Born and raised in Coral Gables, Liane has a unique perspective on covering news in her own backyard.

"I feel so honored and grateful to be a part of a station I grew up watching," Liane said. "Dwight Lauderdale and Ann Bishop were names and faces I knew since I was a kid, and it thrills me to be able to have WPLG in common with legends like them."

Liane received her Bachelor of Science degree in communications (double major in broadcast journalism and theatre arts) from the University of Miami and later pursued graduate studies at Barry University.

While in college, Liane worked at Coral Gables Television, where she worked as a reporter, host, editor and producer. There, she earned multiple Davey and Telly awards for her work in public affairs programming.

As a student at the University of Miami, Liane won a Society of Professional Journalists award for general assignment reporting. She also anchored UM's Emmy Award-winning weekly newscast "Newsvision" and was active at UM's theatre department.

More recently, Liane earned a Suncoast Emmy Award for her role in team coverage of the Parkland massacre. She was also nominated for an Emmy for her role in the continuing coverage of the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

Liane is an active member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and Society of Professional Journalists.

In her spare time, Liane likes to spend time with her fiancé and baby daughter, cheer for the Miami Hurricanes and sweat it out at spin class.
