Shayne Dwyer is an award-winning journalist and a member of the 10 News team since May 2018. Prior to working at WSLS, Shayne worked as a reporter at WDBJ7 for three years. He covers a variety of stories across Southwest Virginia. Growing up in suburban Philadelphia, his high school television teachers are who you have to thank for the work you see today. They put him on a path that led him to the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. There, Shayne won a number of awards including first place at the Hearst Journalism Award Television Broadcast News Competition, widely regarded as the “Pulitzers of collegiate journalism.” He was also awarded a first place, and chairman’s award by the Broadcast Education Association. While in Roanoke, Shayne was named Outstanding Individual Reporter by the Associated Press for West Virginia and Virginia. Shayne also worked for the Virginia Museum of Transportation as the Director of Communications between reporting jobs. He enjoys riding his bike on the greenway, trying new restaurants and spending time on Smith Mountain Lake.
