Amy Cockerham

Amy Cockerham joined the 10 News team in January 2023. 
 
She is a native North Carolinian, born and raised in Mt. Airy, home of Andy Griffith. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Dramatic Art. 
 
She comes to Roanoke from Johnson City, Tennessee where she spent two years reporting across Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia for WJHL-TV. 
 
During her time there, Amy covered devastating flooding in Buchanan County, the murder of Big Stone Gap police officer Michael Chandler and the disappearance of 5-year-old Summer Wells in Hawkins County, Tennessee. 
 
Amy is excited to continue reporting in and exploring more of Virginia.
