$70,000 found, 30K calls made to 10 News Find Your Money Phone Bank

There is $2 billion worth of unclaimed property in the Commonwealth

Roanoke – Southwest Virginia is nearly $70,000 richer after the 10 News Find your Money Phone Bank.

There is $2 billion worth of unclaimed property in the Commonwealth and chances are some of it may belong to you. 10 News worked to help you recover it through the Find your Money Phone Bank.

Since starting this project, 10 News has helped people find more than $300,000. During the two-day event 10 News partnered with the Virginia Department of Treasury Unclaimed Property Division, experts found $69,396.24 for viewers who called in to the phone bank.10 News received more than 30,000 calls from viewers checking for unclaimed property or cash. Amounts claimants found ranged from less than a dollar to more than $18,000.

Last year the Virginia Department of Treasury returned $51.5 million to claimants in Virginia. Diana Shaban with the Unclaimed Property Division said the 10 News Find Your Money Phone Bank was one of their largest turnouts in the state.
