King Street, between Orange Avenue and Springtree Drive will close from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly through Thursday. Crews will work on constructing a storm drain.
The Bedford County Board of Supervisors will vote to sell the former Thaxton Elementary School. Monumental Ironworks will purchase the property. The county says that it is no longer needed and getting rid of it will further the economic goals of the county. The school closed in 2015.

A two-day meeting begins today, talking about the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. The State Water Control Board begins a two-day meeting, hearing comments about the proposed pipeline and its possible effects on water quality in the Commonwealth. The board will look at effects to stormwater runoff during construction and after the project is complete, as well as water protection, as it decides whether to issue a construction permit for the project.
A community dialogue on neighborhoods takes place tonight in Roanoke. The meetings are held each month to talk about issues in the city's neighborhoods. Tonight's session will celebrate two years of focused revitalization efforts in the Melrose community. It starts at 6 p.m. at the Goodwill on Melrose Avenue.
The Roanoke Law Foundation holds Santa at the Station. It's a holiday party for children and their families, who are living in shelters. The event is hosted by the Virginia Museum of Transportation for families living at the Rescue Mission, Trust House, Head Start and Family Promise.
