What's News Today: December 14, 2017

Here's a look at some of the stories we'll be following today

The Celebration of Lights continues at Riverside Park in Lynchburg with a glow ride tonight.  Cyclists are encouraged to decorate their bikes and ride through the park tonight.  In addition to the lights, there will be coffee and donuts.

A conference, talking about sex trafficking, takes place in Roanoke today.  The Family Violence Coordinating Council and Street Ransom are holding the event.  Advocates, law enforcement, healthcare workers and more will talk about ways to combat the problem in their respective fields.

The Radford Army Ammunition Plant holds a public meeting today.  It will discuss modernization and environmental projects, as well as corrective actions.  The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Christiansburg Public Library.

Volvo Trucks is holding a job fair today.  It is looking for full time welders, painters, electricians and more.  Starting wages range from $16.77 to $17.67, depending on shift and skills.  The event takes place at the Wytheville Meeting Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  This is one of four job fairs the company is holding.

A Roanoke College professor and students will hand out toys today to students with disabilities.  Students are taking toys and modifying them for the students.  This is the second year of the toy drive.
