A domestic violence awareness event takes place today as the Council of Community Services holds "A Walk in Their Shoes."  The community will come together to walk with survivors and advocates.  You will hear from survivors and remember those who lost their lives to domestic violence.  The event begins at noon in downtown Roanoke's Wells Fargo Plaza.

The Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Recovery Conference gets underway today at Virginia Tech.  Faculty, staff, local professionals will talk about the successes and challenges that students, who are in recovery, face on college campuses.

The Central Virginia Health District will give free flu shots today.  They will set up at Appomattox High School from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., before the school's football game.  The shots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.  

A political commentator and radio talk show host will speak today at Liberty University.  Laura Ingraham will address the students at convocation.  Convocation begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Vines Center.
