Here's a look at some of the stories we'll be following today

Attorney General Mark Herring holds a free legal clinic for veterans today in Roanoke.  Veterans can get help with estate planning and documents, like wills, powers or attorney and advance medical directives.  You do need an appointment to attend.  The Virginia Department of Veterans Service and State Bar are working his Herring's office for the event. 

The U.S. Forest Service will give a presentation and hear comments about a restoration project in the Jefferson National Forest.  The restoration effort will provide a fire-adapted ecosystem and reduces the wildfire risk.  A presentation will be given at 2 p.m. with a discussion after at the forest service office in Roanoke.

LewisGale Hospital Montgomery holds a ribbon cutting today for its renovated Emergency Room.  The renovation is part of a $6 million capital project which includes a new da Vinci Surgical System.

Operators of the Gathright Dam in Covington will conduct a pulse release of water today from Lake Moomaw.  The releases are designed to create river flow conditions that would occur without the dam during heavy rainfall.  Water levels on the Jackson River will rise between three and four-and-a-half feet.  The release will occur between 6 a.m. and 1:30 p.m
