Here's a look at some of the stories we'll be following today

The Brambleton Area Business Association holds its monthly meeting today.  Scott Leamon from the Roanoke Police Department will talk to the group about recent break-ins in the area, talking about ways business owners can protect their stores.

Virginia Western Community College holds an open house today for students affected by the closure of Miller-Motte Technical College.  The school offers several programs that relate to those taught at Miller-Motte, including certified clinical medical assistant, certified nurse aide, medication aide and more.  The open house is today from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.  There is another one scheduled for Tuesday.

Roanoke Valley NORML meets today for its September Social.  Local leaders and activists will talk about how to advance marijuana policy reform in Virginia. 

Protests against two proposed pipelines will take place today across the Commonwealth.  Groups of protesters will meet outside of seven Department of Environmental Quality offices across Virginia, including one in Roanoke.  Local leaders are expected to talk and will deliver a letter of protest.
