Virginia Tech falls to North Carolina in ACC Tournament Quarterfinals

The Tar Heels had nine players score, including R.J. Davis with 19 points. This loss eliminates the Hokies from the ACC Tournament, but the team is still projected to play in the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile, the Tar Heels victory secures a spot for them in the ACC Tournament Semifinals as they take on Florida State Friday.
NC State ends Hokies ACC tournament stay
Greensboro, NC โ With Elissa Cunane picking up where she left off 12 months ago, NC State took step one toward what it hopes will be a successful defense of its ACC Womenโs Basketball Tournament title. AdNC State kept Virginia Tech at armโs length throughout the second half, never allowing the Hokies to pull closer than four points. Sophomore center Elizabeth Kitley โ another Summerfield native โ led Virginia Tech (14-9) with 20 points and nine rebounds. NOTES- NC State improved to 25-15 in ACC Tournament quarterfinal games, while Virginia Tech slipped to 0-6 in the quarterfinal round of competition. Ad- NC State won 84-75 versus Georgia Tech in the regular-season meeting between the teams in Atlanta on New Yearโs Eve and defeated Clemson 86-65 at home on Feb. 11.
