Rocky Mount finds partner to run Harvester Performance Center
ROCKY MOUNT, Va. โ The Harvester Performance Center in Rocky Mount has a new venue operator with a local connection. The town announced Tuesday that it is partnering with Charlotte-based Midwood Entertainment to run the venue after the retirement of longtime Harvester general manager Gary Jackson. [Harvester Performance Center looking for new leader after general manager retires]Davidson said he is already planning outdoor shows across the street from the Harvester at the Franklin County Farmers Market company and believes the Harvester has the potential to attract acts of all genres to Rocky Mount. Jackson had served in the role since the venueโs opening day in 2014 until his retirement last week. Midwood Entertainment also operates the Appell Center for the Performing Arts in York, Pennsylvania.
Harvester Performance Center looking for new leader after general manager retires
ROCKY MOUNT, Va. โ Franklin Countyโs most famous entertainment venue is looking for a new leader. Harvester Performance Center general manager Gary Jackson officially retired on Friday. Jackson had operated the Rocky Mount venue since it opened in 2014. Assistant Town Manager Mark Moore said the Harvester is a major asset for Rocky Mount, and Jacksonโs leadership helped get it to that point. โThe opportunity for a small town like Rocky Mount to have a venue like the Harvester has been great for this town and for this region,โ Moore said.
'The perfect opportunity to be outsideโ: Scarecrow trail returns to Rocky Mount
ROCKY MOUNT, Va. โ The second annual scarecrow trail is underway in Franklin County. Residents and businesses in Rocky Mount are once again decorating the town just in time for Halloween. This yearโs trail has more than 50 scarecrows in less than a 2-mile walk along Franklin Street. Weโve all been in and this is the perfect opportunity to be outside. Weโve got a great town to walk in and itโs also relevant for the businesses.
The Harvester paints social bubbles for concertgoers to stay socially distant
ROCKY MOUNT, VA. โ We know the saying, โstay out of my bubble,โ but now in Rocky Mount, itโs โstay out of my pod.โThe Harvester moved its shows outside due to the pandemic and theyโre socially distancing in a unique way. The music is back in downtown Rocky Mount. Hank and Janet Hanks made the trip in from Pulaski to see Darrell Scott on Thursday night. There are 300 circles, seven and a half feet wide, with plenty of room for toe-tapping in the farmers market parking lot. For the Hanks', their ears still work just fine even with the masks and they urge others to do the same.
Harvester Performance Center to resume outdoor concerts next month
ROCKY MOUNT, Va. If youve been waiting for local outdoor concerts to return, you wont have to wait much longer. The Harvester Performance Center in Rocky Mount has several events planned in July. According to the venues Facebook page, the first show will be July 3 with Tin Can Locomotive. Seating will be arranged to try to keep people 6 feet apart.
