Lynchburgโs newly-appointed city manager resigns before officially starting the job
Thatโs how long Douglas Stanley lasted as Lynchburg city manager. On Friday, Stanley submitted his letter of resignation to Lynchburg City Council effective immediately, citing the recent release and circulation of several emails. Prior to being hired in Lynchburg, Stanley served as the county administrator in Warren County for more than 20 years, resigning on July 31. City council will discuss the appointment of an interim city manager at its Sept. 8 meeting. Until then, Deputy City Manager Reid Wodicka will carry out those duties.
Lynchburg mayor discusses increase in coronavirus cases
LYNCHBURG, Va. Mayor MaryJane Dolan will conduct a press conference in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 900 Church Street. The purpose of the press conference is to discuss the increase in COVID-19 cases in Lynchburg. Lynchburg is seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases in the area, and its concerning the mayor and health officials. In a press conference on Monday, doctors with the Virginia Department of Health and Centra Hosptial broke down the recent increases. On Friday we actually began to move some patients towards Farmville that were COVID positive as we are seeing high numbers at Lynchburg General.
