ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A Star City favorite is returning this season.
Construction has begun on the outdoor ice skating rink in Elmwood Park.
Crews are busy laying miles of tubing that will actually create the ice.
Downtown Roanoke Inc. started Elmwood ice with hopes of attracting more people to downtown.
Well exceeding that goal, more than 13,500 skaters came out last year.
The group is expected to make an announcement Friday morning about new additions this season.
The ice rink opens November 23.
