Roanoke safe exchange center seeking donations to remain open

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A Total Action for Progress program will be forced to end, unless funding can be secured.

Enrollment for Sabrina's Place is suspended as the program is set to lose all of its funding on October 31. TAP leaders are asking for the community's help to raise $146,000 by December 31 to keep the program open.

Sabrina's Place was created to prevent violence between family members during the exchange of children.

"It helps protect victims of domestic violence, women, children, men, families. It's a safe haven and supervised visitation safe exchange program," explained Stacey Sheppard with TAP.

Sabrina's Place has served more than 600 families since it opened back in 2007 and hopes to continue with the help of the community.
