2016's Stop 2: Botetourt County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY (WSLS 10) – For Stop 2 on The Virginia Proud Weather Tour, Jeff Haniewich visited Buchanan.

Specifically, he took part in the Buchanan Civil War History Weekend. 2016 is the ninth year for this event.

Harry Gleason, the events coordinator for the town of Buchanan says it will be a busy weekend.

"Most of the activities will take place Saturday and Sunday, beginning 8 o'clock in the morning with breakfast at the historic Wilson warehouse, camps will open to the public at 10 a.m. They're welcome to stroll through, talk to the reenactors,  learn about life on the front. All through the day up on Main Street there'll be skits with little scenarios, we'll have a funeral up there, just different activities. We'll have a Civil War Ball on Main Street [Saturday] evening, we have Battle of Buchanan on Saturday at 3, as well Sunday 1:30, we've got a great General Lee living history person will be on presentations. So there's lot of activities for all ages," said Gleason.

On Monday, the tour will be in Highland County as Jeff tours the newly renovated Highland Center.
