Stop 13: Rockbridge County

Jeff visited the Rockbridge Baths Fire Volunteer Fire Department

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. – Stop 13 on the Virginia Proud Weather Tour took Jeff Haniewich to Rockbridge County.

The Rockbridge Baths Fire Volunteer Fire Department is one of 10 companies in the county.

The department receives about 200 calls a year.

Capt. Neil Whitmore is proud of his crew, which is completely made up of volunteers.

He added that Carilion medical chopper Life-Guard 12 is helpful, especially in the remote areas in which the department operates. It takes Life-Guard 12 about five minutes to get from Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington to the Rockbridge Baths area.

Whitmore also explained the process of a swift-water rescue to Jeff.

Stop 14 on the tour will take Jeff to Bedford County.
