Severe Thunderstorm Warning, Flash Flood Warning issued for multiple areas

ROANOKE, Va. – The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Roanoke County and the cities of Roanoke and Salem until 7 p.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has also been issued for Bedford and Franklin counties until 7:30 p.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has also been issued for Henry County until 9:15 p.m.

A Flash Flood Warning was also issued for those areas, as well as Southern Botetourt County until 11:45 p.m.

As of 5:45 p.m., there are two severe thunderstorms were located northwest and southeast of Roanoke. These two strong storms will likely merge over the county and city of Roanoke in the next hour, according to the NWS.

Anyone in these areas is advised to prepare for large hail and damaging winds.

The NWS says this storm may bring 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail.
