Unsettled Father's Day weekend, but not a washout in the weather department
Stronger storms possible Sunday, Monday
ROANOKE, Va. – June began bringing the area a break from our very wet May, but over the last few days we have entered back into that very wet pattern.
Scattered storms are possible over the holiday weekend, but it won't be a total loss. Saturday will feature mostly cloudy skies with a few pop-up showers and storms.
Sunday will start out dry with breaks of sunshine which will lead to another round of scattered storms by the afternoon and evening.
A cold front will finally put an end to the daily rounds of storms we have seen over the last week. The catch is that as this front passes it to will bring the possibility of very heavy rain and severe weather. Since we will have a trigger mechanism other than the heating of the day, storms should move faster, but they also have the opportunity to be more intense.
We will dry out behind the front, but crank up the heat as we welcome summer on Wednesday.
