Another day, another day with chance for thunderstorms. While this is the seventh straight day with a chance for storms, the set-up is different.

A cold front will be the mechanism to trigger storms Monday afternoon. Some of those storms could turn strong to severe with damaging wind and very heavy rain being the main threat.

Clouds that we woke up to Monday morning have broken and sunshine has taken over. With the increasing sunshine, our atmosphere is becoming increasingly more unstable.

The most likely time for severe weather will be from 3 to 9 p.m from west to east.

While these storms will be moving faster than those of the last seven days, torrential rain is expected in the strongest storms. Dewpoint temperatures around 70 degrees will not only fuel the thunderstorms, but also allow them to be very efficient rain producers.

Rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are expected and higher rates are possible. Flash flooding will be a concern, especially for the areas that have seen the heavy rain over the past week.

We'll dry out as we get ready to welcome the first day of summer, but tropical moisture from a system yet to be named may push in to close out the work week.
