Heat and humidity surge for the holiday as June finishes up cooler than average

We'll take a short break in that department Sunday and Monday, but the humidity surges back in time for Independence Day.

It seems like the kids just started summer break, but here we find ourselves just days away from the Fourth. June as a whole was a weird month. We were very wet at times and then dried out. We had our hot and humid stretches, but June did something that hasn't been done since May of 2016.

For the first time in 13 months, a month has finished below average in terms of temperature. Those have certainly been hard to come by lately.

We'll take the slightest of breaks in the humidity department over the next couple of days, but temperatures still stay hot over the holiday weekend.
