Hottest week of the year to date arrives after a comfortable Sunday

It will feel close to 100 degrees at times this week

ROANOKE, Va. – The summer humidity will take a 36 hour summer vacation before it comes roaring back like an unwanted guest. The combination of the heat and humidity will have the area flirting with the century mark for much of the upcoming work week.

While it will be seasonably hot Sunday afternoon, it will be much more comfortable than the last several days.

Sunday night will feature the opportunity to save on the electric bill as overnight lows dip down into the 50s and 60s.

The window-opening weather will be short-lived as your air conditioner will be putting in some overtime starting on Tuesday with the return of some of the humidity we had last week.

The tropical feel will surge back on Wednesday. The heat index will approach, if not even exceed 100 degrees at times through the middle of the upcoming work week.

Friday will feature another day near 90 degrees in the temperature department, but as we close out the work week, better chances for afternoon cooling storms swing by.
