Brutally cold, windy to start Thursday

Big warm-up heading into the weekend

ROANOKE, Va. – The snow is long gone, but the cold and wind have taken its place. Wind chills are below zero in the New River Valley and in the single digits elsewhere. The winds will gusts 20-30mph through the day. With the help of sunshine, actual air temperatures climb back into the 40s.

Be on the lookout for icy spots as anything wet as frozen over, and side streets are still snow covered. sunshine returns to today which will help the road situation later this afternoon.

A warming trend continues right into the weekend as we climb back into the 50s on Friday and flirt with the 60s by the second half of the weekend. Our next rain chances arrive late Monday afternoon/evening.
