Likely tornado touches down in parts of Campbell County

Multiple trees down in Red House Rd, Morris Church Rd area

ROANOKE, Va.6:30 P.M. UPDATE

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg says a possible tornado is the cause of tree damage in Campbell County. We received video of the storm spinning and appearing to have touched down Saturday afternoon around 4:35 p.m.

Numerous reports of tree damage have come in from the Morris Church Rd, Red House Rd, Hat Creek Rd and Liberty Lake Rd area between Gladys and Brookneal. 

Morris Church Rd and Red House Rd are completely blocked from downed trees and debris. 

10 News reporter Magdala Louissaint was first on scene and will have more information from those impacted by the storm.

Here are a few pictures she took of the damage. The couple living in this home were not injured. They got in their basement, and say they are blessed to be alive.

The National Weather Service will conduct an official storm survey Monday morning.

As a thunderstorm moved through parts of Campbell County Saturday afternoon, it was enough to bring down some trees near Morris Church Rd and Red House Rd. 

This was confirmed via Campbell County dispatch.
