Active weather pattern continues into next week

ROANOKE, Va. – Most of Tuesday will be wet with the wettest times coming during the morning commute and then again around dinner. In between there will be a few scattered showers around.

Ice will be mixing in at times in the higher elevations of the Mountain Empire, Southern Blue Ridge and areas north of 460. Travel for the most part will just be wet, but a few slick spots will be possible on bridges and overpasses. Most of the ice will accumulate on elevated surfaces like cars and tree branches. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m.

Wind gusts late Tuesday night and into Wednesday afternoon could top 40 mph.

After a dry middle-of-the-week, rain chances return Friday.

The amount of cold air this weekend will be marginal, but may be cold enough in areas along and north of 460 for snow and ice to mix in. Stay tuned.
