Sunshine returns, but a blast of cold settles in for Thanksgiving

Even colder air arrives next week

ROANOKE, Va. – It is relatively mild to start the busiest travel day of the year. Sunshine will dominate locally, but the winds will crank up as colder air rushes in behind a strong cold front. That cold front will deliver a blast of cold air just in time for Thanksgiving morning. Winds Wednesday will be in the range of 15-25 mph with higher gusts before calming down on Thursday. Sunshine stays with us through the weekend.

Black Friday:

For those getting up early on Friday, bundle up!  Temperatures will be in the upper-20s and lower-30s early Friday morning. Sunshine is back through the day pushing temperatures back into the mid-50s.

Next week:

An even bigger blast of cold is lurking behind the one coming in for Thanksgiving. By early next week highs will struggle to make it out of the low-40s with lows for some of us in the teens.
