ROANOKE, Va. - It is feeling much more like spring to start our Friday, but that will quickly change. Rain will bookend the day with scattered showers and downpours around early and even a few thunderstorms developing in the evening.
There will be the chance for a few stray showers in the afternoon, but a lot of us dry out for a short time as temperatures surge back into the mid to upper 60s. Small hail will be possible in any storm that develops Friday evening, but storms are not expected to turn severe.
As a very strong Arctic cold front pushes in this evening, tonight, winds will turn gusty. At times wind gusts will top 30 mph as temperatures crash behind the front.
Snow showers develop on the western slopes by Saturday morning, but for everyone else a drying trend takes over. We all receive a nice blast of Arctic cold heading into the weekend with reinforcing cold shots coming at us for much of the week ahead.
