Stop 14: Bedford County

Jeff visited the Moneta Rescue Squad

MONETA, Va. – Stop 14 on the Virginia Proud Weather Tour took Jeff Haniewich to Bedford County.

Jeff spent time at the Moneta Rescue Squad.

The county has 24 different agencies, 12 fire departments and 12 rescue squads.

There are 20 volunteers at the Moneta Rescue Squad and 500 countywide.

Capt. John Singer said as the rescue squad looks for more volunteers, it's reaching out to the community and is looking to recruit older people.

The president of the Moneta Rescue Squad, Ray Mayhew, showed Jeff the wall of lifetime members of the rescue squad.  

The 15th and final stop on the Virginia Proud Weather Tour will take Jeff to Carroll County.
