The weekend looks wet at times

Wednesday through Friday all look pretty quiet weather-wise for us. However, things change this weekend. Another more powerful disturbance will impact the area from Friday night through the weekend, increasing our rain chances. As of now, Saturday looks wetter than Sunday...but it will be a good idea to have the umbrella handy all weekend long. Because of the additional cloud cover and chance for showers/storms, temperatures won't be as warm on Saturday and Sunday. But, they will be on the rise again come next week.

Near record warmth is again possible on Thursday

Any lingering showers/storms will taper off later this evening as a cold front moves through the area. Although we may awaken to some leftover cloud cover east early on Wednesday, the trend will be for us to quickly turn mostly sunny. Temperatures will reach the low-to-mid 80s on Hump Day. But, we will turn even hotter on Thursday, as highs will climb into the upper 80s! We'll be flirting with more record high temperatures on Thursday.

Any showers end tonight with more sun on the way for Wednesday!

TUESDAY EVENING

A weak system is bringing a scattering of showers and maybe even a few rumbles of thunder to the area. Most of these stay west of Lynchburg-Danville through 10 p.m. We’re left mostly dry through the overnight, as temperatures drop to 56 to 62°. Patchy fog will be possible in areas that do see a brief downpour.

WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

High pressure regains control of our weather, resulting in more sun and more warmth. We’ll see clouds gradually decreasing Wednesday with any lingering showers ending. Temperatures will reach between 78 to 84°. Thursday and Friday’s afternoon temperatures will be within 3 to 5 degrees of record warmth. Most of us will be in the 80s. We cannot completely rule out a few late day showers/storms in the mountains Friday, but Thursday is dry all day long.

THE WEEKEND AND BEYOND

A series of weather systems will slowly move through the area, resulting in increasing rain chances this weekend. Saturday looks the wettest, with most of Sunday and Monday’s activity being confined to the afternoon hours. Keep checking back, as we understand this will have an impact on local commencements and festivals.

Saturday’s highs will be around 70 to 76. Sunday will be slightly warmer, and Monday will be slightly warmer than Sunday. Temperatures will eventually climb back into the 80s next week.
