Downtown Redevelopment goes to vote in Salem

SALEM – Salem City Council is expected to vote on Monday, April 24, on a contract for the West Salem Body Shop on Main St. in Salem.

The building that was once home to the old West Salem Body Shop has been vacant for more than a decade.

As WSLS previously reported, the city owns the building after a land swap with its owner. Local developer Ed Walker, who has been part of projects like the Patrick Henry, will buy the building if the council approves the contract. Walker is expected to turn the building into apartments.
