Virginia voters head to the polls Tuesday

ROANOKE, Va. – Poll workers across the commonwealth spent the day Monday getting ready for the primary election on Tuesday.

State officials expect a higher-than-normal turnout for a non-presidential primary.

Races you'll see on your ballot include candidates for governor and lieutenant governor.

Poll workers WSLS 10 spoke with say they're ready.

"Most of our preparations have already been made. The two big things today are we're delivering the mobile security cages with the equipment to the precincts, and our election chiefs are picking up all of their paperwork they'll be responsible for tomorrow," Roanoke City Director of Elections Andrew Cochran said.
