(WSLS 10) - Many have seen several rallies against plans to build pipelines through southwest Virginia.

Yet, Governor McAuliffe supports the Atlantic Coast pipeline, which would run through Nelson County. The governor calls it a huge job creator.

A recent study examines the economic impact of the pipeline, which would span across West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.

Research shows capital spending through 2019 could generate more than a quarter-billion dollars, per year, for the Commonwealth. It also says the project could bring more than 1,000 jobs.

McAuliffe also believes the proposed natural gas pipeline could make it easier to attract more companies to the state.

"I get out of bed in the morning and I have to compete with 49 other governors. I almost feel bad for those folks because when this pipeline is moving, boy I tell you, these jobs are going to be coming here to Virginia," said Governor McAuliffe.

Next Wednesday, November 19, there will be a "Rally in Richmond" to let lawmakers know they are against pipelines.
