Feeding Southwest Virginia partners with after-school programs to feed kids

ROANOKE, Va. – Feeding Southwest Virginia is working with after-school programs across Southwest Virginia to fight food insecurity.

Experts told 10 News the need is huge in the Roanoke area.

In Roanoke, all kids qualify through the CEP, which stands for Community Eligibility Provision.

“Children get a free breakfast and lunch at school and then those who go into some of these after-school programs or go to the library for enrichment will receive fresh meals and or snacks from feeding southwest Virginia,” Brandon Comer, the Director of Children’s Programs at FSWVA said.

We’re told parents can take their kids to an after-school program in Roanoke or to the library for a free meal – no qualifications necessary.
