DANVILLE, Va. – A Danville animal hospital is expanding and offering new services.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday for The Family Vet's new location on Piney Forest Road.
The hospital has outgrown its current location on Franklin Turnpike.
Danville Mayor John Gilstrap said aside from being able to better serve pets the expansion may also create three or four new jobs.
Dr. Jeff Smith, who runs the hospital, said the new facility will be state-of-the-art.
"We will continue to push ourselves to find ways to serve you better. This facility will be a full-service veterinary hospital, a grooming salon, a doggy day care and a five star pet hotel," Smith explained to the crowd gathered at the ground breaking.
The hospital is expected to open in December.
