No arrests have been made yet. This weekend, the community gathered at the scene of the shooting to hold a candle light vigil.

The memorial remains in his memory.

Funeral services will be held at Bible Way Cathedral in Danville Thursday at 2 pm.

Chris Calloway of Danville was one of Harpers childhood friends. He says that Harper was planning on getting his first job.

"He was only 19," Calloway said. "He was so young."

Police aren't commenting on the homicide, but say the investigation is ongoing. No word yet on whether or not there are any suspects in the case.

The shooting happened just in front of Woodside Village Apartment Homes. Residents there say it was quiet last night until they heard several gunshots around 11:30.

When police arrived on the scene, Harper was lying on the street shot and suffering. Harper was taken to Danville Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Residents say that gang violence is an issue in Danville and believe that the shooting is related. Harpers Facebook page lists his occupation as "blood workshop. "

It is unclear if posts on his Facebook page amount to confirmation Harper was involved in a gang, but will certainly be considered in the investigation.

Harper has had previous run-ins with the police, including being convicted of trespassing. It is unclear why harper was in this area Thursday night.
