has made advances on a research project that focuses on the BRCA 1 breast cancer gene.
Dr. Kelly
explains, "We have discovered new mechanisms that weren't previously known about how BRCA 1 is operating. We think that can be important in determining mechanisms of action in how things go wrong when people get hereditary breast cancer related to the BRCA 1 mutations. If we can identify the underlying causes and how these mutations affect the disease process we might be able to have interventions even before a screening would occur."
