DURHAM, N.C. – In the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, third-seeded Virginia Tech softball fell to sixth-seeded Georgia Tech 6-2 at Duke Softball Stadium on Thursday. While the Hokies entered the tournament ranked in the top three in division one in scoring, home runs and slugging percentage, Virginia Tech’s offense was flat.
The Yellow Jackets (32-22) got on the board first, scoring a run in the top of the second inning. The Hokies (39-12-1) answered in the bottom of the third inning, as left fielder Addy Greene tallied a sacrifice fly to score center fielder Emma Ritter. But Georgia Tech scored five unanswered before a solo home run by Ritter in the bottom of the seventh inning.
