Tractor-trailer driver charged after crash on Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County

Northbound lanes were shut down

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. – State police have charged a tractor-trailer driver after a crash on Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County on Thursday.

Jacob Doss Amos, 26, of Lawsonville, N.C., faces one count of reckless driving.

The crash happened just before 4:30 a.m. near mile marker 175 in the Natural Bridge area.

The northbound lanes of the interstate were shut down for several hours while lumber from the truck was cleaned up and the truck was uprighted.

One northbound lane was re-opened by about 7:30 a.m.

State Police say Amos fell asleep, overturned and another vehicle came around the corner and hit him.There was one injury in the second crash, which is non-life threatening. 

The person was taken from the scene by EMS. 

Amos was not injured.
