Vehicle fire causes 2.5-mile backup on I-81 in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – A vehicle fire has caused a backup on I-81 in Montgomery County, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. 

The incident happened near mile marker 121 on the southbound side. The south right lane and right shoulder are closed. 

As of 11:23 a.m., traffic was backed up for about 2 1/2 miles.
