The U.K. government has announced plans to dismantle the remains of London’s Grenfell Tower.

The inquiry into Britain’s worst residential fire since World War II is releasing its final report on failings that led to deaths of 72 people at a high-rise apartment building in west London more than seven years ago.

The death toll in a fire that engulfed an apartment block in the Spanish city of Valencia has risen to nine as questions were raised about whether construction materials caused the fire to spread so rapidly.

Prince William and British politicians have joined in memorial services to mark five years since 72 people died in London’s Grenfell Tower blaze, the worst domestic fire on British soil since World War II.

The British government says property developers must bear the cost of removing dangerous cladding that has left scores of apartment buildings at risk of fire, and thousands of residents facing steep bills to make their homes safe.

Eight fire engines and 60 firefighters were sent to the scene after reports of smoke coming from a building on Darfield Way in north Kensington, the London Fire Brigade said. One eyewitness, Danielle Bond, told PA that the fire had reached the sixth floor.
